We’re surrounded by loved up celebrities enjoying a smooch – from Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in Twilight to the kiss of the year from newlyweds Kate and Wills.
But it seems most of us could do with an injection of Hollywood glamour into our love lives as new research reveals 55% of women and 60% of men aren’t getting enough kisses.
According to the research by Oral B, as a nation we’d like to be getting 5-10 kisses a day; enter relationship guru Tracey Cox who hits the streets in this exclusive video to find out why Brits aren’t puckering up as often as they’d like to.
And it looks like we’re not making it easy for ourselves, with those quizzed admitting bad breath, smoking and bad timing all contributing to a missed kiss opportunity.
Tracey is telling the nation how to increase your chances for puckering up and gives her expert advice for getting your 5 a day:
- It’s all in the eyes: Eye contact is important as is waiting for the right moment. And once you have that moment, make sure your eyes are closed as it can be a huge turn off!
- Don’t be a hero: You may see the hero in the movies overpowering the woman while kissing which sometimes can be great, but be careful to strike a balance so you don’t end up coming on too strong!
- Keep it clean: You could have the best looking hair, smartest shoes, but if your breath is smelling, you certainly won’t be kissing and telling! Make sure you prepare for a big date with a thorough brushing.
- Just relax: Kissing should be a great way to connect with someone you like so whether it’s a first kiss or a kiss between husband and wife, remember that a kiss should be a special moment. Start out very slowly and work into a gentle pace
So there you have it, armed with Tracey’s top tips we can all be a successful smoocher this summer - and with a good kiss being scientifically proven to put a smile on our face by boosting levels of serotonin (which elevates mood), there’s no excuse not to pucker up!
