Today sees the announcement of the winner of the Sainsbury’s Active Kids Get Cooking competition, which challenged children from all over the UK to devise a recipe for a spectacular breakfast inspired from around the world. Super chef Jamie Oliver judged the final and tested the dish for taste, nutrition and early-morning appeal.

British Nutritional Foundation (BNF) findings show that children who start the day with a nutritious meal are more focused during the school day and find it easier to concentrate.

Rowan Armstrong from Scotland was declared winner of the national competition. He came up with the idea of a homecoming breakfast menu which made it to the finals because it was found to be inspirational and tasty but still easy to make.
