Extensive research reveals that drivers using a hands-free mobile phone have slower reaction times than drivers at the legal blood alcohol limit.

The worrying research also shows that the risk of collision is four times higher when a mobile phone is being used. This is regardless of whether the call was made using a hands-free or hand held device.

In response, the UKs largest transport company, FirstGroup, announces that it is to ban its entire 135,000 employee workforce from using mobile phones whilst driving on company business with effect from 1st January 2008.
