David Blunkett (chairman of The Yellow School Bus Commission) takes the next step in a major review of the UK's school transport system.
The Yellow School Bus Commission was initially announced in 2007. Blunkett is now in New York on a research trip to examine the future of home-to-school transport and the expansion of U.S.-style yellow school buses across the U.K.
David Blunkett is spending three days in New York meeting with local police, school teachers, yellow bus drivers and children to learn from their experience of running a successful yellow-bus school system. Some of these buses currently operate in the U.K. but Blunkett hopes that this trip will boost the Commission's nationwide British campaign.
